description The issue of clinician burnout has become a growing concern in health care, with an increased emphasis on health information technology as a contributing factor. Technology-mediated stresses have arisen with the electronic health record, and we can anticipate new and different impacts from future information tools. This article discusses technology’s pivotal role in physician well-being, not only in the quality of its design but also through its capacity to enable future models of care that are more manageable for physicians and more effective for patients.
