description | AIM AND OBJECTIVE: This study assesses the efficacy of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), biodentine, and calcium phosphate cement (CPC) as single visit apexification agents for nonvital immature permanent teeth, both clinically and radiographically. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was conducted as a double-blinded randomized, controlled clinical trial after approval of the Institutional Ethical Committee of King George's Medical University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, the approval letter (Ref. no. 81st ECM II B-Thesis/P24). A total of 60 patients in the age group of 6–15 years, fulfilling all the inclusion and exclusion criteria were enrolled for the study. Patients were randomly divided into three groups having 20 in each group. RESULTS: On the basis of present study, it can hence, be inferred that clinical success for MTA, biodentine and calcium phosphate cement in apexification was 100%. The radiographic outcomes of calcium phosphate cement showed better results as compared to MTA and biodentine at 9 months of follow-up periods. CONCLUSION: These finding suggest that calcium phosphate cement can be used as a substitute for MTA and biodentine because of its comparable clinical and superior radiographic success.
