Sumario: | The transcription factor NRF2 is central to redox homeostasis in animal cells and is a well-known driver of chemoresistance in many types of cancer. Recently, new roles have been ascribed to NRF2 which include regulation of antiviral interferon responses and inflammation. In addition, NRF2 is emerging as an important factor in antiviral immunity through interferon-independent mechanisms. In the review, we give an overview of the scientific progress on the involvement and importance of NRF2 in the context of viral infection. |
