Sumario:The authors present a case of an adolescent female who presented to the emergency department with a second case of tonsillitis in the span of two weeks. The patient recovered after treatment with a broader-spectrum antibiotic and was discharged home. The authors highlight the importance of weighing the costs and benefits of tonsillectomy with the potential that additional antibiotics may be enough in cases of recurrent tonsillitis.
