description Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a rare but fatal cardiovascular disorder with high morbidity and mortality. Diagnosis and treatment of this disease at an early stage would greatly improve outcomes. The molecular indicators of PAH are mostly nonspecific, and diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers are urgently needed. A more comprehensive understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying this complex disease is crucial for the development of new and more effective therapeutics to improve patient outcomes. In this article, we review published literature on proteomic biomarkers and underlying molecular mechanisms in PAH and their value for disease management, aiming to deepen our understanding of the disease and, ultimately, pave the way for clinical application.
