Sumario: | Chronic sequelae after surviving Covid 19 disease, and also after inapparent or asymptomatic SARS-CoV‑2 infections, represent an increasingly common problem despite the growing number of vaccinated individuals and significantly reduced infection rates in the summer of 2021. For these sufferers of “post-Covid syndrome” Western medicine has been unable to date to offer any significant, established and effective therapy options. In this article, the author presents effective therapeutic concepts offered by Chinese herbal therapy for the treatment of the particularly frequent respiratory and neurological symptoms as well as for “chronic fatigue syndrome” (CFS), with special emphasis on the treatment of special forms of Covid-19 sequelae such as disharmony of lesser yang (shaoyang) with variations of “minor bupleurum decoction” (xiao chaihu tang), also with regard to possible reactivations of chronic EBV infections by corona-virus infections. The article also discusses the significance of Long Covid in children and adolescents and outlines possible therapeutic concepts. The article concludes with two case studies. |
