Sumario:Cervical cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women aged 20 to 39 years in the USA. Radiation therapy for cervical cancer in the definitive setting is delivered by combining external beam radiation and brachytherapy. The procedure of cervical brachytherapy could be associated with significant discomfort and pain to the patient. Here we describe a novel cervical applicator, that can be inserted bedside, with local anesthesia only. The device is similar to intrauterine device and vaginal ring used for contraception, albeit with channels for high dose rate brachytherapy.
