Sumario:In recent years, immigrants from various backgrounds immigrated to Canada in search of a better life for themselves and their children. However, my personal experience points to the numerous problems immigrants face upon arrival. I immigrated almost four decades ago to Montreal, and experienced discrimination at my workplace and in public, as well as at my university during my studies. Hence, I will discuss my view of the importance of training adult educators to apply cosmopolitan and multicultural values in their classrooms in order to foster the inclusion of immigrants and their children. This essay examines references from various sources in how they apply to the importance of inclusion through cosmopolitan and multicultural approaches in education, and I will present my own experiences to support my claims. In addition, teaching empathy toward other humans and culturally responsive teaching while using universal appreciation for the arts can educate about various cultures and specific experiences.
