Sumario:Severe hyponatremia is associated with neurological impairment and mortality. Furthermore, severe hyponatremia can be the first presentation of several diseases. Therefore, an appropriate investigation for the underlying causes of hyponatremia apart from the proper correction of sodium levels, might lead to a diagnosis of occult diseases.
