Sumario: | Patients who receive the diagnosis of non-organic insomnia in a neurological sleep laboratory mostly suffer from psychiatric disorders (34 out of 43 persons): personality disorders, with or without additional affective disorder, depression, dysthymia, cyclothymia, bipolar disorder, anxiety (generalized anxiety disorder, social phobia), somatoform (autonomous) disorder, hypochondriacal disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, adjustment disorders after dramatic life events, and post-traumatic stress disorder. They are under permanent psychiatric treatment and psychotherapy, but they still suffer from symptoms of insomnia.
