Sumario:This volume features contributions on the discussion in the social sciences on inequality. It is based on the premise that inequality is not only a quantifiable material state but also a lived experience which must be understood. It accordingly centers on narrative; a concept which has garnered much attention among renowned economists seeking to unpack the reality-creating power of language. The volume comprises three parts. First, validity problems in narratives are discussed from the perspective of empirical data research. Second, contributions grapple conceptually with the legitimacy-creating capacity of narratives, which is, third, explored in empirical studies.
