description We report a rare case of urolithiasis induced by cefazolin sodium pentahydrate and review the relevant literature. A 12-year-old girl with right kidney injury was admitted to our hospital, a computed tomography scan revealed that no signs of disease in her left kidney but her right kidney was traumatized severely. After receiving cefazolin sodium pentahydrate, 2.0 g by intravenous infusion daily for 10 days, urolithiasis was found in the left urinary tract by computed tomography scan. Later, the patient complained of left back pain, nausea and vomiting, and a further computed tomography scan showed calculi persisted in the left urinary tract, and some of which had caused left hydronephrosis. A double-J catheter was placed in the left ureter, but no calculi were seen to drain with urine in the next 2 weeks, those calculi were removed by a flexible ureteroscope.
