Sumario:Background: PCOS is associated with states of insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, obesity and NASH. Newer non invasive biochemical indices are available for the assessment of NAFLD like the AST/Platelet ratio. Aim: To study the Effect of Metformin and Vitamin E compared to Lifestyle modification on AST/Platelet ratio in PCOS patients with associated NASH. Result: Thirty three subjects with PCOS and NAFLD were included in the analysis. On follow up at 3 months there was a significant change in weight and BMI in the Metformin and Lifestyle intervention group, however there was no significant difference in weight in Vitamin E treated group. Vitamin E group showed significant fall in the AST/platelet ratio with p < 0.05. Conclusion: Lifestyle intervention and Metformin can provide significant benefit in weight loss in PCOS subjects. There was an improvement in AST/Platelet ratio in those who received Vitamin E.
