Sumario:Severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been associated with cytokine storms and hyperinflammation. In a recent study, Junqueira et al. provide evidence that antibody-mediated uptake of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus by monocytes and macrophages may contribute to this inflammation by activating inflammasomes which trigger pyroptosis.
