Sumario: | BACKGROUND: Stigma acts as a barrier in help seeking behavior of patients affected with psychiatric illness. Insight and stigma both are vital in influencing adherence to treatment and recovery. AIM: This study was an attempt to compare Internalized stigma, Insight and treatment adherence among patients of schizophrenia and alcohol dependence. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was conducted at institute of mental health and hospital Agra. 30 patients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia and 30 with alcohol dependence syndrome as per International Classification of Diseases-10 diagnostic criteria were recruited from the out patient department. Sociodemographic and illness-related information were recorded in detail. Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness (Ritsher · 2003) schedule for assessment of Insight (Davis 1990) and medication adherence rating scale (Thompson etal,2000) were administered to both the groups. RESULTS: The data will be analyzed and shared during presentation. |
