1 in 3 women worldwide have been subjected physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. India stands at a staggering 12(th) in the global ranking of 170 countries, which is also attributed to underreporting. The north-eastern region was presumed comparatively a safe haven for women but some violent appalling incidences especially during the corona lockdown has raised a serious question to the claim. Handling victims of violence needs additional expertise, patience, tolerance and a lot of sensitivity.
