Pattern of sexual dysfunction in male OCD patients and its correlation if any with serum testosterone level

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:-: To assess the pattern of sexual dysfunction among male ocd patients attending at sms medical college Jaipur and its correlation with serum testosterone level. METHODOLOGY :-: total 40 patients diagnosed with OCD by ICD-10 ,participated in the study after informed consent. Arizona sexual experience scale (ASEX) was applied for sexual dysfunction. Serum testosterone level was measured by laboratory test. After data collection ,data analyzed by spss software. RESULT :-: Total 40 responses were recorded. Sexual dysfunction was seen 37 % of total participants. OCD patients attending the Opd were mostly from urban background. Decreased sex drive and dissatisfaction with orgasm were most common sexual dysfunctions. orgasmic dysfunction was least among the OCD patients, only 20 % show orgasmic dysfunction. Out of 40 OCD patients only 2 patients have below normal level of serum testosterone. out of them only one OCD patient with sexual dysfunction have subnormal testosterone level. DISCUSSION :-: about one third of participants had sexual dysfunctions. All patients with sexual dysfunctions have issue with decrease sexual desire.in this study with ocd patients all type of sexual dysfunctions could be present. There were no significant correlation of sexual dysfunction in ocd patients with serum testosterone level. CONCLUSION:-: our study concluded that sexually dysfunctions is frequently seen in drug naïve ocd patients. Proper workup and psychoeducation is necessary before starting SSRI, because they also causes sexual dysfunctions. Our study doesn’t show any correlation of sexual dysfunctions in ocd patients with serum testosterone level.
