description | INTRODUCTION: Inhalants are volatile substances that produce chemical vapors that can be inhaled to induce psychoactive affect. These substances include solvents,aerosols,gases,nitrites, produce changes which lasts just a few minutes.Prevalence in the adult population is 0.58% while the prevalence among children and adolescents is higher 1.17%. At the national level, an estimated 4.58 lakh children and 18 lakh adults need help for their problematic inhalant use. CASE SUMMARY: Here with we report a rare case of 20 yrs old male who is a daily wage labourer with 600 ml of fevicol inhalant abuse and dependence along with alcohol, cannabis and nitrazepam abuse with ASPD traits,multiple criminal activities like robbery of mobiles, bikes, car,money, chain snatching etc along with friends senior to him from age 8 yrs and punished legally twice at age 12 yrs and 15 yrs. DISCUSSION & CONCLUSION: Youngsters are finding ways to get stimulation or stress relief through chemicals and Fevicol is one such alternative which is easily available,no prescription needed,cheap, not banned.Hence more workshops need to be conducted for parents,teachers and other staff so that abuse is detected earlier. |
