Sumario: | BACKGROUND: Bipolar and Unipolar depression are associated with increased impulsivity during illness episodes. There is little information about impulsivity during euthymia in these mood disorders. AIM: To illustrate difference in impulsivity in euthymic bipolar and unipolar depression. METHODS: Study setting: The study was conducted in outpatient department of psychiatry, tertiary care centre. Sample size: 60 20 Euthymic Bipolar depressive patients 20 Euthymic Unipolar depressive patients 20 Healthy Volunteers Study Design: Comparative – Cross Sectional Study. Study period: June to September 2021 Scales: Barratt impulsiveness Scale (Revised), General health questionnaire. RESULTS: Euthymic Bipolar disorder has scored higher on motor impulsivity and Unipolar Depression scored higher on non-planning impulsivity. CONCLUSION: Increased impulsivity for both Euthymic Bipolar disorders and unipolar depression compared to healthy volunteers. Bipolar disorder scored higher on motor impulsivity than unipolar depression. |
