description INTRODUCTION: Premenstrual syndrome is a group of psychosomatic symptoms which occur during the second half of the menstrual cycle. Significant number of reproductive aged females suffer from it with impact on day to day activities. AIMS & OBJECTIVES: To assess the 1. Prevalence of PMS in nursing students 2. Severity and impact of PMS on day to day life METHODS & MATERIALS: Cross sectional study conducted among 3rd year female nursing students of a government medical college in Telangana for a period of 3 months at IMH, Hyderabad. Females of age18-25 years were included. Consent was obtained from the participants in written format in English which is understandable to all and confidentiality was maintained. Ethics committee approval would be taken. Socio demographic data and attitude towards PMS and menstruation were taken in intake proforma. Premenstrual Syndrome Scale (PMSS) was used which consists of 40 questions. Minimum score is 40 and maximum score 200.Sample: 100- Simple random sampling. The data obtained was entered into SPSS version 22.0 and results were obtained. RESULTS: Results would be discussed at the conference. CONCLUSION: Premenstrual syndrome is common among females and has considerable impact on day to day activities. Skills about managing symptoms and increase in the awareness about PMS is to be done to increase the quality of life.
