When the person is not really sick. It is not done to achieve a benefit, and there is no evidence of external rewards and no other illness to explain the symptoms. Fortunately, it is rare (2 in 100000) and most often occurs with mother. we are describing one such case of a 40-year-old female who came to the OPD with her daughter and husband. They are referred from the Department of general medicine. The lady on the first visit Stated with conviction that her daughter was having chronic serious kidney defect. she had already met many physicians and surgeon and made her daughter undergo many non-invasive and invasive investigations. she was well versed with medical terminology and pathological conditions. Despite all normal investigations, she was not Convinced at all. She was admitted along with her family after taking consent and the initial interactions, we neither denied her claims and nor give in to her demands of procedures and investigations. After Rapport building, she was Referred to a psychologist and psychiatrist social worker and cognitive behaviour therapy, individual therapy, family assessment and intervention were Started. Antidepressants selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor ESCITALOPRAM And low dose antipsychotic aripiprazole were started and she was rated on BABS (Brown assessment of belief scale). She stayed for four weeks and Showed improvement subjectively and objectively. Came her follow up twice and remained well on both pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy Booster sessions. FDIA is considered a form of abuse by the American professional society on the Abuse of children. This disorder can lead to serious short and long-term complications. Generally, FDIA is a very difficult disorder to find and often requires years of treatment Social services, law enforcement, children?s protective services and physicians must Function as a team to stop the behaviour.
