Sumario: | BACKGROUND: Biofeedback is an established non-pharmacologic technique commonly used in the treatment of migraine and tension type headaches. Biofeedback is effective in reducing the frequency and severity of headaches, often allowing patients to decrease their dependence on medication. Migraine affects various facets of Quality of Life and leads to moderate to high levels of disability among migraineurs. AIM: The aim of this study is to assess the quality of life and disability due to pain in patients of headache and to see if there is any improvement after introducing Biofeedback and Relaxation as an intervention. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study participants were randomized to intervention and control arms. Study group consisting patients on medical therapy as well as biofeedback and relaxation technique, and control group only received medical therapy. After 4-6 weekly sessions the effect on Quality of Life and severity of pain was assessed. RESULT: Participants who are were provided with Biofeedback and Relaxation techniques showed significant improvement in their Quality of Life and Disability due to pain over patients only using medical therapy. DISCUSSION: Biofeedback with Relaxation Technique is an effective measure in improving Quality of life and Pain Management in patients of Migraine. |
