Sumario: | The advances in understanding the pathogenesis, in the diagnosis and classification of blood diseases and in their treatment that have been achieved over the six decades from 1960 to 2020, are reviewed. Emphasis is given to the new techniques, especially in immunology and molecular biology, that have enabled this remarkable progress. The review also highlights the major contributions of UK haematologists and non‐clinical scientists to these advances. |
