We describe a detailed guide to performing an electrochemical gram-scale protocol for decyanopyridation of inert N-heterocycles. The desired pyridylated quinolone is synthesized in a 5.0 mmol scale with a yield of 76%. The protocol is limited to cyanopyridines.
