Acute pulmonary edema due to occult air embolism detected on an automated anesthesia record: illustrative case

BACKGROUND: The authors report a case of venous air embolism (VAE) during a pediatric posterior fossa craniotomy with resulting pulmonary edema requiring postoperative ventilation.
