Sumario:The severe course of COVID-19 requires treatment in emergency and intensive care units. Acute respiratory failure due to the development of pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome is the most common and life-threatening manifestation of the new coronavirus infection. Treatment of patients with severe and extremely severe COVID-19; the use of modern schemes and protocols for drug therapy, mechanical ventilation, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation; sorption techniques; the use of thermal helium; hemostasis correction; and rehabilitation problems are discussed.
