Sumario:In the title complex, [Zn(C(15)H(10)ClN(3))(NO(3))(2)], the central zinc(II) atom is penta­coordinated by two O-bonded nitrate ions and three N atoms of the 4′-chloro-2,2′:6′,2′′-terpyridine ligand in a slightly distorted trigonal–bipyramidal shape. The main feature of the title complex packing is the presence of offset π–π inter­actions between the terpyridine rings in different layers. This structure constitutes the first known example of a zinc(II) 4-chloro­terpyridine complex with coordinating nitrate ions. [Image: see text]
