Sumario:This study aimed to determine to what extent virtual meetings differ from face-to-face meetings in measurable parameters. The study included both, data collection via questionnaire and structured observation and operationalization of communication patterns during an average 45-minute group task. Results of the study show that online group work is experienced with more psychological and physical load and with a greater lack of stimuli. Compared to group work in face-to-face, online teams record a significantly longer total discussion time, whereby the number of contributions per person is lower, but the duration of the individual contributions increases. The study also confirms the assumption that the performance of teams in online meeting formats is less than in face-to-face meetings.
