Sumario:Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is a rare type of T-Cell (non-Hodgkin's) lymphoma associated with the use of silicone breast implants. Recent widespread awareness has focused not only on the management of this condition but also in regards to potential litigation of surgeons, clinics, and breast implant manufacturers. Allegations of causation and inappropriate patient consent are being raised. The purpose of this article is to establish the timeline of relevant discoveries regarding this condition and associated implications with regards to appropriate informed patient consent.
