description Tropical countries have recorded incidences of amoebic liver abscess (ALA) owing to the more significant epidemiology and pathogenicity of the intestinal protozoan Entamoeba histolytica in these regions(.) However, the rise in the number of immigrants from such areas to developed countries has made it necessary to thoroughly review the diseases caused by the parasite globally. Patients generally present with the usual features of right upper quadrant pain, painful hepatomegaly, mild jaundice, and vomiting, to name a few; however, the condition can manifest varied presentations accompanied by a plethora of findings non-responsive to the standard treatment. Therefore, newer modalities should be considered by weighing their risks and benefits to reduce morbidity and mortality and improve patient outcomes.
