description Our understanding of eosinophil biology, development, and regulation has dramatically increased in the past decade, leading to new paradigms for the role of eosinophils in human health and disease and, perhaps more importantly, providing insights toward novel treatment strategies in the fight against eosinophil-mediated inflammation. In this review, we discuss recent advances regarding the role of eosinophils in host-viral defense, eosinophil heterogeneity, and eosinophil-targeted therapies.
