description We discuss a case of a 42-year-old female who was admitted for chronic intractable lower back pain requiring elective spinal surgery. A cardiac catheterization and left ventriculogram revealed normal coronary arteries and basal anterolateral hypokinesis, with the normal movement of the distal segment of the anterior wall. A rare variant of stress cardiomyopathy was diagnosed.
