Sumario: | Nursing and healthcare‐associated pneumonia (NHCAP) is associated with decreased physical function. We investigated the functional outcomes at 1 year after hospital discharge in patients with COVID‐19 pneumonia. Functional decline rates for calculating the Barthel Index at the time of hospital discharge and at 1 year after hospital discharge were significantly higher in the NHCAP group than the community‐acquired pneumonia group (at hospital discharge, 54.0% vs. 31.2%, respectively, p < 0.0001; 1 year follow‐up, 37.9% vs. 8.6%, respectively, p < 0.0001). It is necessary to consider early rehabilitation, and treatment depending on the presence or absence of applicable criteria for NHCAP. |
