Necrotizing fasciitis of the back originating from a perforated appendicitis: A case report
• Appendicitis is a potential but uncommon cause of necrotizing fasciitis. • Appendicitis occurs infrequently within an abdominal hernia. • Inferior lumbar hernia represents <1.5 % of abdominal hernias. • Necrotizing fasciitis can occur after a perforated appendicitis in a lumbar hernia.
