description Tetracycline was reported to trigger intense lucigenin chemiluminescence (CL). Based on its significant quenching to lucigenin-tetracycline CL, procyanidin was detected. The mechanism of the lucigenin-tetracycline CL and its quenching by procyanidin were proposed. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration curve is linear in the range of 10–1000 nM for procyanidin with a detection limit of 4.4 nM. The RSD for nine replicate determinations of procyanidin was less than 1.7%. Moreover, this method was satisfactorily applied to the determination of procyanidin in human urine samples and health food capsule of grape seed.
