Sumario:The article is an attempt to explore the dialectics between differences and commonalities of the five major humanistic schools (Gestalt, Psychodrama, Person-Centered PT, Logotherapy and Existential Analysis, Integrative Therapy) in relation to relevant social issues. The Covid-19 pandemic presents a significant challenge for psychotherapy. Many people are suffering from the numerous effects of the pandemic. But it has also changed therapeutic practice. In this paper, we seek answers from the perspective of humanistic psychotherapy practices. In the first part, school-specific approaches are presented in relation to the impact of the pandemic. Here, the schools differ in theory, language, and therapeutic emphasis. In the second part, commonalities of humanistic approaches in relation to dealing with the pandemic are elaborated. These include aspects of the concept of humanity, philosophical anchors, dialectics of freedom/responsibility and autonomy/relationality, and the role of the therapeutic relationship.
