Sumario: | It is crucial to understand how to promote workforce resilience to a crisis such as the COVID-19 outbreak. The main aim of this study is to examine the role of workers' core beliefs challenge in fostering their resilience. Core beliefs challenge is the constructive rebuilding of an individual's fundamental assumptions about life, the world, the self and others. The data were collected from 672 tourism employees during the pandemic crisis. The results revealed the positive association between workers' core beliefs challenge and their resilience. Cognitive reappraisal was detected as a mediator for the relationship between core beliefs challenge and resilience, while evidence was not found for the mediating role of expressive suppression for such a relationship. Family strain negatively moderated the links between core beliefs challenge and both emotion regulation strategies. Discussions on theoretical and practical implications are displayed. |
