Grooming behavior was assessed by determining adult mite infestation levels, daily mite fall per colony and percentage mite damage (as an indicator of adult grooming rate), while hygienic behavior was assessed by determining the brood removal rate after freeze killing a section of the brood. …”

Beyond the empirical insights, this study highlights the conceptual differences between the so-called birth–death and coalescent tree priors: while sequence sampling times alone can strongly inform the tree height and reproductive number under a birth–death model, the coalescent tree height prior is typically only slightly influenced by this information. …”

Interestingly, replication kinetics of this H3N8 virus, using airway derived primary cells from multiple species, such as equine, swine, bovine, and human lung epithelial cells, demonstrated appreciable titers, when compared to Madin–Darby canine kidney epithelial cells. …”
