“…Here we report an in depth analysis of IFN-expressing and non-expressing mouse cells infected with Sendai virus. Mouse embryonic fibroblasts in which an internal ribosome entry site/yellow fluorescent protein gene was inserted downstream from the endogenous IFNβ gene were used to distinguish between the two cell types, and they were isolated from each other using fluorescence-activated cell sorting methods. …”

“…Methods: Sixty-three patients prospectively received oral clopidogrel 75mg/day from 3 days before and for 1 day after the procedure at our institute (Kohnan Hospital, Sendai, Japan) during 2007. Results: At 24 hours post-coiling, significantly less high-intensity areas, detected by MRI with diffusion-weighted imaging (MRI-DWI), were observed in clopidogrel-treated patients compared with a historical control cohort of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid)-treated patients (13/63 [20.6%] vs 27/69 [39.1%]; p = 0.02), primarily due to a statistically significantly lower rate during repair of small (<10mm) lesions (p = 0.008).Also, the rate of periprocedural thromboembolic events was lower in the clopidogrel than the aspirin cohort (2/63 [3.2%] vs 5/69 [7.2%]; p = 0.3). …”

“…To assess the immediate impacts of the tsunami on coastal communities, changes in taxon composition and richness of macrobenthic animals before and after the tsunami were examined at nine intertidal flats in Sendai Bay and the Sanriku Ria coast. The results showed that 30–80% of taxa indigenously inhabiting intertidal flats disappeared after the tsunami. …”

“…We demonstrate that these defective viral genomes (DVGs) are generated naturally during respiratory infections in vivo even in mice lacking the type I IFN receptor, and their appearance coincides with the production of cytokines during infections with Sendai virus (SeV) or influenza virus. Remarkably, the hallmark antiviral cytokine IFNβ is only expressed in lung epithelial cells containing DVGs, while cells within the lung that contain standard viral genomes alone do not express this cytokine. …”

This work identifies a novel immunoregulatory role of the spliceosomal SNRNP200 helicase as an RNA sensor and TBK1 adaptor for the activation of IRF3-mediated antiviral innate response.…”

We used a Sendai virus-based system that permits reprogramming to progress in a strictly KLF4-dependent manner to screen for KLF4 target genes that are critical for the progression of reprogramming. …”
