“…To discover the rest mass of neutrinos is one of the most challenging tasks bearing fundamental implications to particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology. In the present paper we have estimated the rest mass of neutrinos by combining the experimental data for the solar and atmospheric neutrinos with a new theoretical assumption, having a simple physical interpretation in the framework of the neutrino-antineutrino pair production from the vacuum by a strong external field.…”

“…In fact, recent progress in theoretical physics, and in particular in String Theory, suggests answers to the above questions, providing us with mathematical tools able in principle to reconstruct the history of the Universe even for times before the big bang. In the emerging cosmological scenario the Universe, at the epoch of the big bang, instead of being a "new born baby" was actually a rather "aged" creature in the middle of its possibly infinitely enduring evolution. …”

“…We perform a global analysis of cosmological observables in generalized cosmologies which depart from $\Lambda$CDM models by allowing non-vanishing curvature $\Omega_k\neq 0$, dark energy with equation of state with $\omega\neq -1$, the presence of additional relativistic degrees of freedom $\Delta N_{\rm rel}$, and neutrino masses $\Omega_\nu\neq 0$. …”
