“…Background: Posttranscriptional gene regulation (PTGR) contributes to inflammation through alterations in messenger RNA (mRNA) turnover and translation rates. RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) coordinate these processes but their role in lung inflammatory diseases is ill-defined. …”

“…MCPyV-positive MCCs carry poor prognosis in approximately 70% of cases, highlighting the need for greater understanding of the oncogenic mechanisms involved in pathogenesis, progression and post-therapeutic relapse, and translation into novel therapeutic strategies. In a previous pilot study, we reported a potential relationship between MCPyV gene expression and oncogenic alternative Δ exon 6–7 TrkAIII splicing in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) MCC tissues from a 12-patient cohort of >90% MCPyV-positive MCCs, diagnosed at San Salvatore Hospital, L’Aquila, Italy, characterising a new MCC subgroup and unveiling a novel potential MCPyV oncogenic mechanism and therapeutic target. …”

“…After controlling for age, sex, religion, and education, three variables were found to be associated with current smoking among the hill tribe people in Thailand: men were more likely to smoke than women (AOR = 7.52, 95% CI = 5.53–10.24); those who used amphetamines were more likely to smoke than those who did not (AOR = 2.92, 95% CI = 1.69–5.03); those who had poor attitudes toward the harms of smoking were more likely to smoke than those who had a positive attitude toward the harms of smoking (AOR = 2.47, 95% CI = 1.53–3.97). CONCLUSION: Translating essential health messages into the hill tribe language and improving the channel to deliver this information to the target populations, particularly men, are crucial strategies for improving their knowledge and attitudes toward the harms of smoking and making them quit smoking. …”

“…Neurabin-I and SAMD14 share a highly homologous SAM domain that becomes immunogenic after atypical hyper-N-glycosylation (SAMD14 at ASN339 and neurabin-I at ASN1277). This post-translational modification of neurabin-I and SAMD14 seems to lead to a chronic immune reaction with B-cell receptor activation contributing to lymphoma genesis of PCNSLs. …”

“…Targeting SIRPα, which is myeloid-restricted, may provide a differential pharmacokinetic, safety, and efficacy profile; however, SIRPα polymorphisms and lack of pan-allelic and species cross-reactive agents have limited the clinical translation of antibodies against SIRPα. Here, we report the development of humanized AB21 (hAB21), a pan-allelic anti-SIRPα antibody that binds human, cynomolgus monkey, and mouse SIRPα alleles with high affinity and blocks the interaction with CD47. …”
