11902por Hunter, Ryan C., Asfour, Fadi, Dingemans, Jozef, Osuna, Brenda L., Samad, Tahoura, Malfroot, Anne, Cornelis, Pierre, Newman, Dianne K.“…Because limiting Fe(III) acquisition inhibits biofilm formation by P. aeruginosa in various oxic in vitro systems, we also tested whether interfering with Fe(II) acquisition would improve biofilm control under anoxic conditions; concurrent sequestration of both iron oxidation states resulted in a 58% reduction in biofilm accumulation and 28% increase in biofilm dissolution, a significant improvement over Fe(III) chelation treatment alone. This study demonstrates that the chemistry of infected host environments coevolves with the microbial community as infections progress, which should be considered in the design of effective treatment strategies at different stages of disease.…”

The use of chelators and quenchers of reactive oxygen species (ROS) determined that Cu(II) and especially Cu(I) ions are still the primary effectors of toxicity but quenching superoxide and hydroxyl radicals did not confer protection. …”

In addition, total phenolic compounds in the extracts of both plants were determined as catechin equivalent. …”

Furthermore, chelation of intracellular Ca2+ by BAPTA, inhibition of calmodulin-dependent kinase kinase (CaMKK) with STO-609, or RNAi-mediated down-regulation of CaMKK α inhibited PHI-induced AMPK activation significantly. …”

11915por Palmer, Christine M., Hindt, Maria N., Schmidt, Holger, Clemens, Stephan, Guerinot, Mary Lou“…Ectopic expression of NAS4 rescues myb10myb72 plants, suggesting that loss of NAS4 is the primary defect in these plants and emphasizes the importance of nicotianamine, an iron chelator, in iron homeostasis. Overall, our results provide evidence that MYB10 and MYB72 act early in the iron-deficiency regulatory cascade to drive gene expression of NAS4 and are essential for plant survival under iron deficiency.…”
