HOW ARE THE PARTICLES IN THE LHC ACCELERATED?
The particles in the LHC make a 27 kilometre lap of the ring 11,000 times a second. Each time they pass Echenevex, in the tube they get a small boost in energy from the electric fields inside the accelerating cavities.
