Sumario: | This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of "thick" 6 inch silicon micro-strip sensors for the CMS Tracker. Following a market survey carried out among eight firms in eight Member States and one firm in a non-Member State, a call for tenders (IT-2777/EP/CMS) was sent on 8 January 2001 to three firms in three Member States and one firm in a non-Member State. By the closing date, CERN had received tenders from each of these firms. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with ST-MICROELECTRONICS (IT), the lowest bidder, for the supply of "thick" 6 inch silicon micro-strip sensors for the CMS Tracker for a total amount of 7 812 133 euros (12 058 261 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, with options for additional sensors, for an additional amount of 1 171 820 euros (1 808 739 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, bringing the total amount to 8 983 953 euros (13 867 000 Swiss francs), not subject to revision. CERN's contribution to the total cost will not exceed 3 324 060 euros (5 130 786 Swiss francs). The amounts in Swiss francs have been calculated using the present rate of exchange. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: IT-100%. |
