On-line microprocessors in the collider experiment UA1: a modern version of the Aladdin's lamp?
The extensive use of hundreds of microprocessors for functions of supervision and control in a high-energy experiment is reviewed from the point to view of a physicist. Problems and solutions will be outlined in the framework of a practical case. (0 refs).
