NGC 1809 and PKS 0502-696
A spectrum of the 17/sup m/ semi-stellar center of NGC 1809 confirms this diffuse object, near the LMC bar, as a background galaxy (V/sub 0 /=1065+or-30 km s/sup -1/, largest size 25 kpc).
