Search for narrow pp states in the reaction pi /sup -/p to p pi /sup - /pp at 16 GeV/c

This Letter carries out a sensitive ( approximately 5 events/nb) search for narrow pp states at the Brookhaven National Laboratory multiparticle spectrometer.
