Eichhornia crassipes es una planta acuática que se reproduce rápidamente en aguas contaminadas.
Se revisó el estado del arte del tratamiento de aguas y producción de biocombustibles con E. crassipes.
Se propone un sistema integrado de fitorremediación y bioenergía, a partir de la biomasa de E. crassipes.
El diseño tiene tres biorreactores para la producción de bionergía (hidrólisis, bioetanol e hidrógeno).
El diseño se puede ajustar a las condiciones de escala industrial.

The state of the art of water treatment and biofuel production with E. crassipes was reviewed.
An integrated phytoremediation and bioenergy system, based on E. crassipes biomass, is proposed.
The design has three bioreactors for the production of bioenergy (hydrolysis, bioethanol and hydrogen).
The design can be adjusted to industrial scale conditions.
