Sumario:In the present article we characterized and classified in the Tsotsil language, edible wild mushrooms among the population of the Chiapas Highlands. Based on the dialectal variants of Tsotsil, the generic categories of the name given to the mushroom in nine Tsotsil municipalities were identified. Likewise, in four localities belonging to Huixtán, Chiapas, knowledge was recovered regarding the natural environment, the different environments and substrates in which mushrooms develop, as well as their linguistic and gastronomic importance. There is a need to deepen the sociocultural, intercultural and interepistemic aspects of mushrooms, since they represent large bodies of knowledge related to ecosystems and biocultural heritage. The methodology used was qualitative-ethnographic with field visits and in-depth interviews.
