description The purpose of this paper is to describe strategies forward to creation and accreditation Distance Learning programs. This is a qualitative research, which adopted biographical method with two data collection techniques: focus group and interviews with students, professors, and directors in the University of Guadalajara and the University of Querétaro. Results show that academic community’s layout three strategies of program’s creation: virtualizing face-to-face programs, enhancing institutional projects, and designing of new programs. Besides, they operated two strategies of adaptability: organizing their own educative model and producing situated knowledge to attend accreditation criteria. Conclusion say that the members of academic communities set personal and collective commitment with their universities, they surf evaluation dinamics and enhanced institutional conditions to get accreditation into The Programa Nacional de Posgrados de Calidad del Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología.

El objetivo del artículo es describir las estrategias orientadas a la creación y la acreditación de posgrados a distancia en dos universidades mexicanas. La investigación fue cualitativa, adoptamos el método narrativo-biográfico con dos técnicas de acopio de información: grupos focales y entrevistas a estudiantes, académicos y coordinadores en la Universidad de Guadalajara y la Autónoma de Querétaro. Los resultados indican que las dos comunidades académicas desarrollaron tres estrategias de creación: virtualización de programas presenciales, impulso de proyectos institucionales y diseño de nuevos posgrados. Además, operaron dos estrategias de adaptabilidad: organización de modelos educativos propios y producción de conocimientos situados para responder a la acreditación. Las conclusiones señalan que los miembros de las comunidades académicas establecen compromisos personales y colectivos con sus universidades, sortean dinámicas de evaluación, y potencian las condiciones institucionales para acreditarse en el Programa Nacional de Posgrados de Calidad del Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología.
